Earn a salary and gain training and qualifications at the same time with an Apprenticeship Programme

Apprenticeships Open to All Age Groups

From 2010 the Government is placing a great emphasis on apprenticeships and funding that had previously been used for Train to Gain is now used for apprenticeships. The use of the term "Apprenticeship" may be confusing to some who previously understood the term in the context of 16 year old school leavers entering into a trade.

app-picThe current use of the term is much broader and is quoted as "Apprenticeships are open to all age groups above 16 years-old whether you are just leaving school, have been working for years or are seeking to start a new career."

As employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job, usually on a day-release basis, apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications. Anyone living in England, over 16 and not in full-time education can apply.

Apprenticeships can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of Apprenticeship, the apprentices' ability and the industry sector. The minimum salary is £2.50 per hour; however, many apprentices earn significantly more.

Key benefits:

  • earn a salary
  • get paid holidays
  • receive training
  • gain qualifications
  • learn job-specific skills

Apprenticeships are available to all ages from new learners to those who already hold a degree.
